About the role
As an Operational Trainer, you will play an important role in ensuring operators, pedestrians and other end users are confident and competent in the safe and correct use of A&R's safety systems. You will deliver engaging theoretical and practical training across a range of systems, including CAS, PDS, MPL, Railbound Safety Solutions and Lamproom Management Systems.
You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering training, conducting assessments, maintaining accurate training records and supporting the certification process. Through clear instruction and a strong focus on safety, you will help promote correct system use, improve user understanding and support consistent operational and safety practices across client sites.
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent; training, facilitation or mining experience advantageous
- Experience working with end users in a mining or industrial environment preferred
- Operational knowledge of relevant A&R systems, including CAS, PDS, MPL, Railbound and Lamproom solutions
- Strong communication, facilitation, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently, follow standardised training material, maintain accurate records and work across underground, surface and classroom environments
Key responsibilities
Training scheduling and organisation
- Deliver training according to the approved schedule and operational requirements
- Coordinate venues, equipment, training materials and communication with relevant stakeholders
Operational training delivery
- Deliver engaging theoretical and practical training on the safe and correct use of A&R safety systems
- Ensure users understand system operation, warnings, required actions and their responsibilities
User training facilitation
- Train operators, pedestrians, drivers, machine users, lamproom users and other designated end users
- Explain system behaviour, alerts, restrictions and required responses in a clear and practical manner
Operational system knowledge
- Maintain sound operational knowledge of relevant A&R systems and their user-facing functionality
- Stay up to date with approved system changes, product updates and operational training requirements
Assessment
- Conduct and evaluate theory and practical assessments to confirm user competency
- Ensure assessments meet A&R's operational training, certification and safety requirements
Certification
- Manage and support the certification process for operational trainees
- Verify that all required training and assessment criteria have been successfully completed
Safety emphasis
- Reinforce safe system use, correct user behaviour and compliance throughout training
- Ensure training aligns with client safety protocols, operating procedures and A&R safety requirements
Documentation and reporting
- Maintain accurate training, attendance, assessment and certification records
- Provide feedback on recurring user errors, unsafe behaviour and additional training needs
Collaboration
- Work closely with Technical Trainers, technical experts, site personnel and the Training Manager
- Provide practical feedback to support improvements to operational training material and user guidance
