About the role
We are looking for a motivated MPL Installer to support the installation, inspection and maintenance of MPL systems in underground mining environments.
The successful candidate will install equipment in accordance with OEM and mine standards, conduct quality checks, identify and report faults, and maintain accurate documentation. This role suits a hands-on individual with strong technical aptitude who enjoys working as part of a team to deliver safe, reliable and high-quality installations.
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12
- Valid driver's licence (required)
- English literacy, including speaking and basic job-card writing
- Good communication skills
- Basic technical knowledge and ability with tools
- Physically able to work underground
Scope of work
- Understand the product and equipment
- Install equipment according to OEM and mine standards and procedures, including cabling, mounting and basic layout
- Complete required documentation, including job cards and installation check sheets
- Work independently and as part of a team
Areas of responsibility
Installation
- Install MPL beacons and antennas according to OEM and mine standards
- Position antennas according to commissioning documents
Inspection and quality checks
- Conduct routine inspections during shifts
- Perform scheduled functional checks and verify equipment and installations
Fault management
- Identify, log and report defects and anomalies
- Replace or report damaged equipment as necessary
Maintenance and repairs
- Perform scheduled maintenance tasks
- Conduct repairs as required
- Test and maintain MPL beacon functionality
Documentation and reporting
- Complete job cards and installation sheets
- Record and report daily tasks for Supervisor or Specialist verification
- Record and report equipment failures
- Tag and document faulty equipment with clear fault descriptions
